Eels have been so plentiful in the past. The last 40 years though have seen a 95% loss of eel population across the world putting them on the Critically Endangered List, at risk from extinction. This loss has come about due to climate change, disease, loss of habitat, chemicals, plastic, polllution, wildlife crime amongst others.
